You will learn to be aware of your surroundings, how you look, how you act, and how your words could lead to a potential attack. Women's self defense classes are not expensive. Even if they were is it not worth the experience and the cost to take them. Remember there is only one of you on this earth and once your injured either physically or emotionally, there is no way to bring you back to the person that you are now. It is again, for this reasoning, that a woman must be confident in her abilities to thwart off unwanted advances and there is no better way to achieve than by mastering the art of women's self-defense. In addition to learning about and pursuing the acquisition of the necessary skills of women's self-defense, a single person also needs to use caution when meeting the new suitor. Using women's self defense the right way will save you the misery of recovery or the loss of property. Tip number one, if you carry pepper spray; warn your attacker before you spray if you have time. If you are far enough away yell, "I have pepper spray and I am not afraid to use it." This fact alone may be enough to sway your attacker from fulfilling his predetermined plans. Call your local law enforcement agency and ask if they offer the service. Sometimes your YMCA will host a women's defense course which is at a low cost or sometimes free. Check out your local paper. Sometimes a women's self defense course is listed in the community activity section. Just jot down the time and place and make time to attend. A woman alone is an easy mark, so to speak, and as such should be prepared to defend herself. However, there is evidence that it is not the unknown attacker that should be of concern, but those that are chosen to be trusted. Should one choose to learn the women's self-defense required to defend themselves against the unknown attacker, or would that time be better spent learning how to read people and allowing those who are unstable to remain outside of our lives? When pressure is applied to these points, pain is felt and the natural reaction to move away from pain gives the victim an advantage. The reflex is called a pain withdrawal reflex and it will move in the exact opposite direction that the pressure is being applied.
