The Splendid Features of Baby Green Iguanas: Besides their rigid claws and large fingers, the baby iguanas have several admirable features. These baby iguanas have a very sharp sense of hearing, smell and sight. Their tail is their defensive measure. It is pointed at the end. When they sense any danger they flick the tail high up in the air. Genus Conolophus, have closest resemblance with the marine iguana. This iguana is also known as Galapagos Land Iguana and basically eats plants and cactus. The next varieties, Genus Ctenosauria are spiny tailed iguanas. They are basically natives of Mexico and Central America. Further, they are very small in comparison to other varieties of iguanas and can grow only from 5 inches to 35 inches in length. These iguanas are also living in marshlands on beaches and mangrove. Marine iguanas are said to be blackish in color and prospering on the sea. Normally, these are not black. Their young ones have a biaxial stripe and the fully grown marine iguanas have grayish color. They actually have a dull color. Many people like to feed their iguana with crush and lettuce, but they are not aware that it is just like sponge and does not have any nutrition value. The problem can further deteriorate with inadequate supply of calcium and vitamin D3 in food. The iguanas may die, if the condition is serious. The critical signs of this disease are swollen jowl, torpidity, soft face and lower jaw like rubber, problem in eating and swelling of limbs. As iguanas like to climb up the branches of trees, you can place some branches, twigs, barks, rocks and broad limbs and similar material for them. Correct Food: Iguanas are herbivores and mostly feed on leaves, vegetables and fruits. Their diet should be balanced and major part of it should comprise leafy vegetables like mustard greens, kale, escarole, spinach, etc. It is better to maintain the number of male iguanas smaller than females; otherwise males may be killed fighting with each other during mating. The nest can be created with some media like using 100% potting soil and the eggs can be buried under it. The other option is using equal quantity of sand and potting soil.
