They like to stay in large and broad natural surroundings. They prefer to have their abode on the high and dense trees. Iguanas can protect themselves from their foes and predators by hiding on the top of these trees. They are also capable to jump down and climb high for safety from the enemies without injuring themselves. The skin pigmentation is helpful to the baby iguanas as they can hide by camouflaging particularly when they are feeling danger of marauders in some region. So many times when they are noticed by predators, baby iguanas will straightaway jump and plunge into water from trees. They are fantabulous swimmers as well. The male iguana will find it as a confinement unless there is additional provision for him to move outside the closet to play and jump around. An open cage may not be suitable in view of the climate, and iguana will feel cold and may become sick. Red iguana can live in water. You can arrange a 30 gallon capacity aquarium for it. Different types and shapes of enclosures can be used for iguana. These can be made from wood, glass, Plexiglas or plastic. Its base should be very clean. You can use newspaper, linoleum or artificial glass at the base. Some species are living in deserts while others live in rainforest. Even a few species have their dwelling in sea. These are referred as marine iguanas. The most common variety of them is giant green iguanas; this species is mostly found in Mexico and South America particularly in Brazil. The common verities of iguana are green iguana, blue iguana, marine iguana and lesser Antilillean iguana. The unhealthy iguana is not fast and may just stay where it is. Just examine the body and all parts of iguana you want to select. It should be round and its skin should be free from scars, scratches lumps or bumps. The healthy iguanas are very fast in their movements and will not stay inactive at one place.
