Acoustic Guitar The acoustic guitar is hollow-bodied and uses only acoustic techniques to produce sound which means it does not have electric amplification. Its name is a retronym of the electric guitar to differentiate them from each other. Its strings could be made of steel or nylon while its top plate could be made of cedar or spruce. Skins of goats, cows, sheep or other local animals are used for the bag s material. The chanter produces the melody of the bagpipe. It is frequently open-ended which gives the player no easy way to end the pipe s sound. This gives bagpipes no rests or the legato sound. Bagpipes mostly consist of one or more drones. Types of accordions There are four basic types of accordions diatonic accordions, chromatic accordions, concertinas, and piano accordions. Diatonic accordions are commonly played in dance and folk groups due to their huge sound productions, inexpensiveness, and light weight. This is the most recognized types of accordion all around the world. Five-string banjo An American minstrel player from Virginia named Joel Walker Sweeney made the five-string banjo popular in the 1830 s. He was the first American who played the banjo in front of an audience. The five-string banjo s fifth and first strings have the same gauge but the fifth is five frets shorter. In 1953, the Gibson Guitar Corporation put the electric bass with a violin shape and an expandable end pin on market. These had one humbucker right alongside the neck pocket. Rickenbacker released the model 4000 bass which had a neck-through-body design in 1957. High end bass guitars which have unique designs, onboard electronics, and hand-finished bodies rose in the 1970 s. Bassoons in modern ensembles Two bassoons are typically required in today s symphony orchestra with the first used in solo passages. It is also a valuable bass in the woodwind choirs. Its function in the wind band is the same to its function in the orchestra. It is quite significant because it is a component of the wind quintet instrumentation standard.
