White magic The first point would be that white magic is not of any particular tradition. White magic is more of a general philosophy of magic than anything else. The philosophy of white magic is simply this: magic is to heal and to help, not to harm and to create hardships. Irregardless of how the ritual looks like and what it can do, every spell is part of white magic if it does no harm to anyone or anything. This fairy tale story is also adapted into several motion pictures such as Jean Cocteau s film in 1946, Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise in 1991, Fielder Cook in 1976, to name a few. Not only fairy tale stories have magic spells but also present-day motion pictures. The 1995 Practical Magic starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman is a story of sisters who grew up in a family of sorcerers. The Arval priests sang the Carmen Arvale while the Salian priests sang the Carmen Arvale together with a sacred dance. Both the carmen verses were sung for varied purposes. The Arval priests believed that singing Carmen Arvale would make their land fertile and thus ensure a bountiful harvest for the community. One time or the other, through our interaction with people, we would meet those who sometimes can be cross and releases a curse on us. A curse or a black spell will stay with a person s subconscious as well as in that person s etheric and cellular self. As always, the curse has a symbol associated with it often dark, sometimes like a cross, a circle, or a simple X. These are the spells that remain in force for as long as the caster maintains concentration on it. Most, however, have a limited duration that varies according the level of the spell itself. The spell caster does not have to concentrate to keep these spells in effect. Depending on the gravity of the request, the rituals for spell casting can take a day, three days, a week or 14 days maximum. Making a spell or a curse with dramatic displays of strange words and smoke and potions or even by a simple use of the hand was prevalent ever since the medieval times. The intended person under a curse was believed to be totally powerless over his fate. The ultimate curse is, of course, death. Spells Developed over the centuries by ancient priests and shamans, the spells created became established formulas.
